2017 CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA - Il Grigio da San Felice DOCG

Il Grigio is an exceptional single-variety Sangiovese Chianti from San Felice, one of the leading winemakers in the heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany.

The bottle label may be of interest to the art history buffs amongst us, featuring one of the most famous paintings by Renaissance artist Titian, “Man in Armour.” Drawing on the values of the Renaissance period for inspiration, San Felice marries tradition with science in the pursuit of absolute viticultural excellence.

Il Grigio is as noble as it is familiar, warm and welcoming. In the glass, it presents a beautifully deep ruby red hue. The aromas are intense and persistent, carrying notes of violet, cherries and plum with undertones of leather and cedar wood. By ageing the wine in oak barrels for two years, San Felice have managed to round out any edges. This in turn yields a full-bodied Chianti with the perfect balance of juicy tannins and fresh acidity.
